Kery stepped out of the intricatedly carved wooden door, out of the glaring shine of the black chandelier, and into the comforting shimmer of the moonlight. He sighed heavily, relief flooding over him as he managed to escape from the confines of the formal dinner with his wife-to-be whom he had no say in choosing at all. He looked up at the specks of silver lingering around in the vast, endless sky, and unconciously reached out an arm towards them. He wished to be like them, the wandering stars, to be beautiful, wild and free. He knew, however, that that was unobtainable, that he will be constricted by his family name, by his own parents, till the very day he breathes his last breath. He began to run. Faster and faster. The cold wind blowing against his skin was like ecstacy. He drowned himself in the pleasure, in that temporary sense of freedom. Every single thing seemed to light up then. Every single detail became crystal clear. The birds chirping joyfully in the trees seemed to be singing for him, the swish of the trees welcoming him. He felt like he was at the top of the world, the king, the almighty overlord that people feared and respected at the same time. However, the reverie didn't last; it never did. A drop of rain fell right on the tip of his nose, awakening him. Soon, the rain started pouring. He ran past the trees, across the field, towards the abandoned building some kilometres away for shelter. He tried to shake off the water in his clothes, squeeze them dry, but to no avail. He sat down on the hard concrete beside the rusty metal door as he hugged his shivering body in an attempt to get rid of the cold . He squirmed around uncomfortably, unable to find a spot where the ground was not rocky and uneven.

Then, the door opened.
